I booked an appointment for Virgin to come and connect us up in the new house before completion. The property is definitely going to be yours and even the Virgin website had an option for if you didn't yet own/live in the property. The only thing to consider is whether you are taking out a new credit agreement and does that have the chance of adversely affecting your mortgage before completion.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Will they still be carrying out credit checks even though mortgage offer has been received etc?0 -
A good idea to arrange it if you have exchanged already. Book it for after completion though, your seller doesn't want extra tradesmen drilling holes when they're busy packing etc.
My anecdote is that my 'buyer' once cancelled my BT line for me, they cut me off completely, before he chucked a wobbly and pulled out. This left me with no phone line and it took a couple if weeks arguing with BT that I had not asked them to close the account and I needed it switching back on again! What a nuisance!0 -
We went with BT for our package, and I booked it once we had a confirmed moving date for installation on the day after move (I figured we'd cope without t'internet for one night). They were happy to deliver the router to the old address, with installation arranged for the new address.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

When we had SKY installed, we booked a date. They emailed us and gave us an account. The move in date was delayed, so all we had to do was go into our account, and alter the date for the engineer to come.
With our internet, we got it switched on the week before we were due to move. The move was delayed by 2 weeks, and so we were paying for 2 sets of tv and internet for a few weeks, but it didn't matter. No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j

what is so difficult about picking up the phone and:
a) asking SKY about its phone service; and
b) asking SKY about its broadband service
or do you think the internet can somehow miraculously speak on behalf of your intended service provider?0 -

As a forum people ask for other peoples advice/experience.
Regarding almost every thread on here you could answer "Ask your solicitor"
"Ask your surveyor"

Don't worry too much Brett.
Just book it all and there should be no problem with you changing the installation date if your move in date is delayed.

Sky probably wouldn't have warned OP about the risk of running extra credit checks before completion.
(Plus I think Sky's call centres are utterly incapable of giving the right information about *anything*, but that's another issue).0
