3rd Party Liability for US Car Hire

My UK motor policy provides unlimited 3rd party liability cover (but limited to GBP20,000,000 in the case of property).
As far as I can see the maximum 3rd party liability cover available for USA car hire is a paltry USD1,000,000, with the legal minimum being way way below even that.
Does anyone know of an (easy) way to get higher levels of 3rd party liability cover for driving in the US?
