. . . and a welcoming glass of Prosecco GRRR!

God but I'm sick weary and tired of effin' Prosecco.
There's barely a UK hotel break on TravelZoo that doesn't include "and a welcoming glass of Prosecco when you arrive" -- as if this cheap Italian fizz is some kind of liquid gold, an iconic drink to hold in your hand to demonstrate how, er, sophisticated you are. Like wot all the other Prosecco drinking sophisticates is -- and all their Babycham & Chicken-In-A-Basket forebears.
Now Amazon Local has gone even further. Some utterly obscure film called "Kingsman: The Secret Service" is about to go on UK release but for just £15 per person (eh?) YOU can attend a regional red-carpet PREMIERE and, and:
. . . "on arrival, be greeted with a welcoming glass of Prosecco."
Is there any place short of Intensive Care where you WON'T be greeted by a welcoming glass of soddin' Prosecco??????
Ends rant. Oooh, I do feel better. Might even treat myself now to a welcoming glass of . . . Champagne.

I like Prosecco, but I don't drink it to act posh, I drink it because it tastes nice and I think I'd be skint if I bought Champagne as much as I buy Prosecco! :rotfl:Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

I don't like Champagne, it's too dry but am partial to a glass (or three) of Prosecco.
I think you're thinking about it too hard."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

I prefer a vintage Cava myself. I love the biscuit like taste, was told that you only get that from expensive champagne or good quality vintage Cava.:beer:0

Had great prosecco in Italy, never found anything as nice here yet-generally I prefer cava .I have known more posers who claim to drink "Moët" than prosecco.0

its a change from other sparkling wines, always thought it was inferior but had a glass at the works Christmas night out and it was very palatable0
