Thanks for that cw18. I'm on a fixed tariff until May and haven't decided whether to stick or swap. Will have been with them 12 months in May so maybe not due a review until then.

I shall investigate on their website to see if there is any info on it.

Just shown Hubby finances for the next 2 months, I think he's worried he's going to starve or live off value beans on toast for the next two months :D

    morning all,

went shopping in Ada's yesterday on the way home form work, and they had an extra display of reduced stuff, must be end of line stuff, managed to get 5 tins of corned beef for 47p each.. organic tins chopped toms 19p each, mushroom soup 6p a tin, little packs of broth mix 10p each, some jerky flavoured pot noodle for 25p each, and a tin of creamed mushrooms for 10p. looked as though someone had tried to hide the tins of corned beef right at the back of other stuff, as all the trays were empty... wish I had got there earlier, as I would have bought a lot more corned beef at that price lol..

Also won a meat hamper worth £50 ( hahaha ye right) from a local meat supplier on FB.. which we had yesterday, so this will come in handy, along side our own pork. as we got some major expenses going out over the next few weeks, due to more house repairs etc.

hope everyone is doing ok.... and managing to look at everything through frugal goggles lol

Well done on the hamper win, Cooltrikerchick. There was an offer on one of the voucher sites for a meat hamper and even at the offer price it wasn't a bargain compared to an average butcher's stall.

I can never find decent reduced or ys stuff :(

Hubby has realised today that whilst I'm making him decent butties for his lunches, I am surviving on leftovers and HM soup (which turned out to be really pants and he refused to eat it). Hopefully, he'll start to be a bit more open to my frugal meal ideas...and there could be some very frugal meals in the coming months ;)

I'm going to spend the afternoon googling recipe ideas as we're quiet at work again.

Finally gave the bits I had in the bag to the cs today. Also sorted a few bits that had to be recycled. Still got to shred some paperwork. But am happy as what I had achieved today. Also made a banana cake this week to use up a few things.

Booked a day trip this week to the seaside for my Mum and I for July.

thanks His Missus, I think my hubby is a bit like yours, I will eat left over veg etc, pinged in the microwave, with a bit of butter or cheese melted on the top, I made leek and potato soup before, ok it was a bit 'gloopy' I ate it, but he only had one bowl and said he didn't really like it..lol..

in fairness even though he will eat what ever I put in front of him he makes it known that he doesn't really like it, like a little school boy pushing his food around his plate, and says nothing unless asked lol..

  • Hi guys :) I'm new to this thread :)

Thought I'd join because I'm challenging myself to a no spend month, starting today :D

Will be paying for essentials such as electricity . . . but no non-essentials, including petrol and groceries (!! But not as crazy as it sounds because I have quite a lot of food stored and we're going to visit my parents for a week at Easter)

    Anyone interested in joining me?

Princess Aloha, welcome to the frugal living challenge. Good luck with your own challenge, it is good to hear of any newcomers to the 'quit unnecessay spending' league. Every month is a no spend month for me, but it becomes second nature after a while. Finding out what is and what isn't essential is a great adventure, so have fun and enjoy the ride. :)

We had a scheduled chat room get together last night and the mini-challenges are now all set. I know some of you on here are taking part in those, too, so don't forget to log in and update or else close off any challenges you started then possibly forgot about them.

Keep on frugalling, folks! It is worth every penny. :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • hiya guys,
    Need some help please.

I'm really wanting to track mine and my partner's expenses, I've made up a spreadsheet for each area, including personal spends for us both. My fiance agrees it's a good idea but doesn't do it and doesn't keep receipts so I end up giving up because it just wont work without his input

Sorry if it doesn't make sense, I'm finding it difficult to put in to words :o
