2015 Frugal Living Challenge

Hiya everyone
Well half-way through the month and £5 under on the grocery challenge atm.
We don't have any bills go out in February so quiet on the money front.
I have finished booking our holidays and am quite pleased with the results.
We are going away to Italy (Milan, Florence and Naples), Sicily and Malta for 18 days starting on 9th March. I have booked all the flights and trains and all the accommodation. We have breakfast included in eight of our stays and the last seven days are self-catering anyway so only three breakfasts to buy and then, obviously the rest of our meals.
The total for everything booked so far is £1210 for the two of us. I shall have the month's grocery monies of £200 and also 2x £100 because of not paying the council tax Feb and March. On top of that is the £90 I found the other day so that's a total of £490, but of course, everything will be in euros - so fingers xd the rate stays as high as it is now. Hoping not to spend more than about £500 over the top of that
Hope you all enjoying the weekend

Last week we received our winter Gas & electricity bill and it is half the cost compared to our previous house. This rented house is so much better insulated and it shows what difference that makes. We are well pleased. Up until recently we were doing well frugally wise but we have now been invited to a wedding in South East Asia so we won't be so frugal over the next few months. Currently we are busy comparing flight prices to try to get the best deal.
Our spending on food has gone down mainly because OH is drinking less. We are also using up food that we have in the freezer and cupboard.
Good luck to everyone with this challenge. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0 -

Evening all,
Have decided to stop lurking and start posting on this thread. We have started to cook more in bulk - mainly to help my hubby so he isn't having to cook dinners and lunches every night - I'm a part time student as well as working full time - so he does all the cooking. We have found that not only does it help with the amount of time in the kitchen but our food bills have definitely gone down. In spite of me becoming a vegetarian and purchasing a lot of veg from the market for cooking purposes - definitely a lot cheaper.
When I am finished my taught modules - 5 weeks and counting - I intend to start cooking at the weekends and freezing rather than having a dinner last over two nights. Not bored of it yet but figure I might in the future.
Anyway will sign off for now. Love this post it is so inventive.
Take care all.
