WELCOME TO FRUGALDOM!
Frugaldom is our virtual land of freedom from debt and recently, thanks to all these challenges run over the past years, it also became a reality in that the place actually exists. I have the support of many of my frugal friends to thank for that!
Everyone is welcome to join this challenge but we no longer run a challenger list, as it has, over the years, proven to be counter-productive, so feel free to jump onboard and contribute in whichever way suits you best.
The final 10-day countdown has begun! Last minute preparations are in full swing and I hope everyone can hang on in here for as long as it takes to kick well clear of debt and adapt to new, more frugal and fulfilling lifestyles.
Good luck all!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.0 -
I love this time of year. Christmas spending is well and truly finished with, I've finished work now for Christmas and have time to reflect on 2014 and plan for 2015.
I'm a lurker / occasional poster although would be lost without this board and my favourite frugal forums and blogs to keep me motivated and inspired x
Here's to a truly enjoyable yet frugal 2015!MSE-ing since 20070 -
Hello
I would love to join in, But its hard as we are foster Carers and when it comes to buying and cooking food it is so hard with 2 very fussy but controlling YP . Having to give them pocket money but then there is clothing allowances etc. I am going to work out a budget for the year and do my best to keep to it as we have 4 credit cards to clear in 5 years before we hopefully take early retirement. to buy and live on our Narrow Boat. so we also need to chip away at the mortgage and get as much as we can paid off. I am always in the background reading the many brilliant challenges etc
Happy Christmas and New Year to you allCC1 1932.43

I will be joining as I already do this.
I'm 21 and my yearly aim is £12,000. I earn approximately £10k plus £3k-£5k per year, but this is variable depending on my shifts for my second job. I aim to live on less than £3,000 a year, which I find doable as I still live with my parents.
Current general outgoings monthly:
£100-£125 rent
£7.50 phone
£30 pony
I then have Car insurance, etc. on top, but my average spending is around £200-£250 per month. I intend to get that down to £200 (now that I have stopped ogling jumps for our horses).
I have just started using RateSetter and Zopa (p2p lending) so I am also getting £100 per month interest (before tax) for that. :TLIFE GOAL ACHIEVED (21yo): Proud owner of 24 magical acres! :T :j
LIFE GOAL ACHIEVED (23yo): Got my horse lorry.
NEW LIFE GOAL: 1. Own a house with land and my own sandschool. 2. Retire early (if I want to:rotfl:).0 -

Morning all. I'm definitely in.
I need to start hammering down my debt as a new bathroom is fast becoming a necessity rather than a desire. I'm in for no more than £12k being spent this year, all in (mortgage, bills, spends, everything).
I intend to earn extra money for birthday and Christmas gifts through surveys and cashback sites and I shall be starting a terramundi to pay for my own personal treats with loose change from my purse.
Happy Frugalling to you all! :j
