Praise for Amazon and Yodel

Delivery companies get a knocking at the moment so here's my experience.

Ordered toys from Amazon Monday evening, received them Weds morning.

Ordered goods from Sports Direct on Weds teatime, delivered by Yodel last night about 9pm.

Fantastic service from both. I am very impressed. :D

I'm with you, I have had 27 parcels delivered in the last month the majority of them by Yodel and Hermes and all be fast and efficient... well exception of one that for some reason the driver put over the back wall without knocking, no harm done though...

Edit: just answered the door for a parcel ordered yesterday from Miss Selfridges...great service.

I must be exceptionally lucky because I have never ever had issues with Amazon/Yodel deliveries in all the years I have ordered from them.

Ok - let me upset the apple cart. Ordered from Amazon with carrier Yodel assigned and delivery 8 Dec. Tracking shows it at their delivery point 5 Dec

On 16 Dec I tried to find out from Yodel what was going on. Give it a go!!! So then to Amazon - with all the usual valued customer/ we are sorry etc hype I was told I would hear direct from Yodel and it WOULD be delivered yesterday.

    Nothing heard or seen.

I am pleased that previous contributors have had a pleasant experience but my experience does not support it. Worse still I think what I have seen from Yodel puts them in the "arrogant" bracket.

Amazon probably needs them more than the other way around and Yodel's arrogance suggests this. I hope Amazon sack them because they need a shake ..... (They would probably shrug their shoulders saying - they will be back)

All parcel deliveries seem to be a bit of a postcode lottery. Yodel seem to manage to deliver to my home address ok but at my work address they have managed to deliver a grand total of 0 times, insisting that the address doesn't exist. Funny thing is all the other companies, including the second worst City Link, manage to find it OK.

My personal league table for my work address is:

1.DHL. get the edge over UPS because they tell you when they will turn up.

    2. UPS

    3. Parcelfarce. Let down because they will delay delivery if they don't have much for the area

    4. Business Post/UK Mail. Never managed to deliver on time and lie like a cheap chinese rug when you ring them. Even to the point that I was told "I have the driver on the phone, he's outside now and the place is shut" I was standing outside myself at the time and there wasn't a delivery van in sight. Funnily enough they usually manage to deliver the second day. When you ask the driver what happened the day before it's always "It wasn't me guv, I wasn't on this round yesterday"

    5. !!!!!! Link. Never, ever delivered on time

    6. Yodel Never managed a delivery yet.
  • Where I live the current Yodel delivery guys have been great (so far), & deliver in the evenings which suits us just fine.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
  • Amazon logistics are normally great for me - I only ever have problems with Yodel. I'm driving to a yodel depot today rather than wait for a delivery so they can lie about me being out.

Amazon seem to be doing well for me except sending 2 damaged books.

Replacements received quickly and returns handled well.

I ordered 2 CDs one from Amazon directly and one fulfilled by Amazon. Ordered Thursday afternoon with 1st class delivery. 1st one arrived Friday AM, 2nd Arrived today.

I was thinking its going to be close if we get them before xmas day. Very happy.
