Yes - up to 6 months without notification, up to 6 years (or 5 years if Scottish law applies) with notification. If you decide not to leave the money there make sure you have an overdraft facility in place otherwise you'll end up owing the bank money too.

Update on this - they have now realised the error and called to authorise taking the funds.
