Slippy Pedal Rubbers - any tips?
My Renault Modus pedal rubbers are slippy as they are worn, but i can't find any replacement rubbers online for a Modus, and the cheap universal chinese imports on ebay/Amazon have bad reviews as they get caught on the car mats, so i was thinking about any home remedies/tips to maybe superglue something grippy onto the pedals etc but does anyone have any idea's what will work?
Cheers

Dealers or a renault specialist.
How can the rubbers get caught on the mats? Sound like the mats are the problem not the rubbers.
I wont have mats in the car unless they are secured to the floor. Had one go under the clutch pedal before.
Coming down a hill and not being able to take it out of gear or put the clutch down is not something i want to repeat.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Maybe a couple of old mitts or socks to cover the pedal or even elastic bands wrapped around the pedal will help give grip.

You have to replace the rubbers, as far as I know they are still an MOT fail item. Using anything else is just dangerous......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Just go down to the dealer and get new ones - I doubt they'll be expensive and it's the least hassle route.0

MSE suggestion. Try sandpaper or emery paper (better) to rough up the smooth rubber.0

oldtoolie beat me to it. Roughen the surface with emery cloth or coarse sandpaper. It's the polished surface that loses the grip, remove that and (as long as the rubber hasn't hardened completely) you'll be good again.
eta: Incidentally, only the brake pedal rubber is a testable item for the MOT for cars. Clutch pedal is also testable for class 5 (minibusses etc) but not cars.0 -
