Santander sharp practice

in my experience active means available to use. You dont need a DD to go through each month, but they must be there to be called on.0

It does say in the T&Cs (1|2|3 Current Account Key Facts Document including Pre-Contractual Information) that you do need to "Have at least two active Direct Debits".

Yes, I noticed that after I had posted and I have amended my post.0 -
Surely the question should be why did BT cancel your DD? I have 2 Santander 123 accounts and have had no issue but then I have 3 direct debits on one account and 7 on the other, they do not have to be monthly. I would take it as read that they should both be active. I had asked that before but missile must have overlooked the question. If BT cancelled your DD and shouldn't have done so, complain to them (and sort out how you pay them in future). If BT cancelled the DD because you no longer have their services, complain to yourself.0 -

BT wouldn't have cancel it for any other reason that there was no money due to be collected. Pass the ball back to the OP. Trying to be clever without determining the full facts is the downfall of many people.0 -

BT would cancel missile's DD if he had changed his telephony supplier.
What if missile had 2 DDs active and used during the statement period just ended. One of these DDs was for BT. He changed telephony supplier and during the current statement period had 2 DDs paid out. One of these was to his new telephony supplier. By unfortunate timing the interest was assessed on a day after the BT DD had been cancelled but before the new telephony DD had been registered.
In such circumstances I would suggest that missile had complied with the spirit of the rules, if not with the letter of the rules, and should appeal to Santander for interest to be paid.
@missile: Thanks for the warning. I've just opened another 123, so it's a timely reminder for me.0 -
Many thanks for your sympathetic response Vortigen. We all live and learn by our "mistakes", but it seems others on this forum never make any <LOL>"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I got caught with a similar thing with co-op. All their marketing literature says you just need to transfer 2 DD which I did. It's only when you read the details you find they also need to remain on the account to qualify for the £100.
Whose fault? I closed the account which generated the DD so can't blame anyone elseRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
