NI as a small province was never going to be a viable economic entity, it would always require public sector money, am not surprised.

You cannot at any level compare UK/England economies with NIs, total nonsense

NI is part of the UK and anyone working or on a pension pays the same amount in tax as any other part. There are many areas in England, Scotland and Wales making more demands on welfare, etc. than the total of their contributions.

Nonsense. Size has nothing to do with it. Six eu members have smaller populations. So let's declare Luxembourg closed?

Right back at you, NI is a mere province not a sovereign state ie cannot compare at any level, isolated, poorly served communication wise and transport wise, anyone with get up and go has gone.

Its a bankrupt entity, politically, financially and socially.

Sovereign status has nothing to do with it. Same applies to Scotland, Catalonia, Bavaria, Ontario. No reason why a province can't be prosperous given the right breaks and organisation. We were prosperous before, we even had a boom period.

Bankrupt is precisely what we're not. If we were to go bust we'd start from the bottom just like every other default in history.

Where have you got up and gone to?

Nothing new in last post, the pseudo-boom you refer to was a fantasy period, brought about by greed, bankers who were/are completely bereft of any responsibility and developers who manipulated the market.

Still here.....but anyone I know of talent has gone.
  • I wasn't referring to that madness.

Isolated, poorly served etc? Where are you living? There is no reason why we can't have a balanced economy. Just not of the form we have now. As noted somewhere else on this site, a house costs half the uk average. There's a tremendous economic advantage for a start.

Its not really an advantage, when if you exclude the public sector wages are also probably half and unemployment is much higher.

FWIW - I will compare wages in my old firm (This is about 10 years, but the same situation occurs now, just with higher figures)
Graduate training salary Belfast - £11,000
Graduate training salary (Inverness) - £24,000

Inverness was the 2nd lowest in the UK, other places were much higher again.
