I kinda wish I'd not posted now 'cos I'm having a 'I really miss you, Murphy, you cantankerous, bad-tempered little oik' moment.

It's almost 3 years since he died and we agreed not to have another for the time being as we started to go away on holiday for around 12 weeks each year once he'd gone.
But the house feels so empty.

And every time I put the Christmas tree up I remember his first year (he'd be about 2 months old by then) when he climbed to the top of the tree as my OH was putting it together and then swung along the curtain swags.
He loved wrapping paper cardboard tubes too, we used to play flicking a Ping-Pong ball down it and he'd never miss hitting it back.

You hit a cat it will be fearful of you and not trust you. If you tried to hit one of my cats, I'd rip your head off!

Oh and loads of people get scratched and never need antibiotics. I have to give one of my cats a tablet each and an quite often get caught by one of her front teeth, my fault. Never had to get a antibiotic or tetanus, just washed my hands.

I did not hit any cat. I did not need to as it never tried to bite me for some reason- must have liked me.

If you read the post again you will read that it was the owner who hit it.

I'm not sure that Donna was actually replying to your post.

There was a post above yours that suggested smacking the cat's bum.
I just assumed Donna was responding to that.

Your post was clear that it wasn't you who hit a cat.

I don't think there was an accusation.

I believe that the word 'If' was missed at the beginning of the sentence.

We got a cat from rescue and they knew nothing about his background only that he had been brought in as a stray and they thought he was about 6 years old. He had only been there just over a week when we got him.

He was a big bruiser of a cat and for about the first 6 months we had him would periodically attack us (me in particular). If I had bare legs he would attach himself to my legs biting and scratching. I was actually terrified of him at one stage and my legs were covered in scratches and bite marks.

We thought about returning him to the rescue but knew we would have to tell the truth as to the reason why and knew, because of that, he would never be rehomed again. So they would either have to have him pts or he would live the rest of his life in rescue. We started to recognise the signs that he was about to attack and then keep out of his way or talk to him quietly and calmly. He, in turn, started to calm down and became a lovely cat although he would only sit on your lap if he wanted to and not if you wanted him to and you couldn't pick him up.

We were never sure if he had ever had a home as he seemed semi feral or else he may have had a home and was illtreated.

He was sadly killed last year by a driver going well over the speed limit on our road. I still miss him
The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie

ah, sad about his death, but you gave him the understanding that most other wouldn't and a life that most others wouldn't. Nice one.

And yes, I understand about the picking up too lol. I can pick Tinker up, fine, but as soon as I put her down, she is round my leg with her claws and teeth.
If I have to pick her up for any reason I have to get near a door, virtually chuck her in to the room (from a low height ha ha) and then quickly shut the door.....
