Now I've woke up I feel a tiny rant coming on.....

To the postman who got the sharp edge of my morphine addled tongue this morning.

7.13am. pitch black outside...Knocking me up to leave a parcel that belongs to a neighbour....their house in the dark...blinds closed.
My house in the dark, blinds also closed... Apparently because a car was sat on my drive and not one next door you knew someone was at home...they don't even have a car but that's beside the point.

And a total disregard for the sign on the doorstep letting people know to be patient when knocking as a disabled person lives in my house..and the fact you have seen me several times before and know it's my car...as we had a conversation about it not so long ago as you were considering purchasing one.

Took me an age to get down stairs with two sticks...and not even an apology... that's why you got a mouthful..

I take it any more parcel deliveries addressed to me will be posted in the nearest hedge!

Just complain to the royal mail. That must be so annoying and totally unacceptable for someone with a disability. I never mind taking in a parcel for a neighbor but to be knocked up out of bed that early is another thing.

To be honest I would think it would be annoying to anyone all tucked up warm and cosy in bed.....and if I complained it would fall on deaf ears.....just glad I had a little vent.

If I were in bed and knew I hadn't a parcel ordered I would just ignore it next time.

Yep but I had no idea it was friendly thoughtful postie... as my husband works away and my daughter's had left for work.... all I saw in my fuddled mind was a policeman at my door with news of carnage..

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he tries delivering my parcels anywhere but to my door again....I don't know if he was more scared of me or my yorkie who was just as disgruntled as myself at being dragged out of bed..and was viciously eyeing up the posties ankle as a breakfast aperitif...
To be honest if I thought it wouldn't of ended up badly for my little fur ball I would of let him have some Christmas fun....:D

Worth getting a small CCTV camera and a screen upstairs so you can decide if anyone knocking at any time is worth struggling downstairs for? Or an intercom so you can speak to them?

I have to say that I dont really see the big issue, what is early for one person is every late for someone else. At 7:13 I normally would already be on the train on my way into London mon-fri or in the back room at the weekend. Someone who works nights could get equally ratty if a postman knocks at 2pm but guess that'd be ok to you?

I find it very helpful when others take things in for me and I wouldnt want to discourage the postman or couriers from trying. I guess if the tables had been reversed and you were out you'd rather he just takes it back to the depot and you have to walk there yourself at their convenience rather than trying your neighbour in case its not a convenient time for them?

Good for you being on the way to work at 7:13...did it myself for 28 years until I became to unwell to work....
The whole point of my vent was ....

    One postman
    One parcel
Two houses both in darkness and blinds drawn
Postman doesn't decide to knock on the door of the parcels owner
He decides to knock on the neighbours door all because the neighbour has a car parked on the driveway...
Maybe exceptable when daylight but when it's pitch black and it's totally obvious the neighbours isn't up because the house is in total darkness...I don't find that normal...it's downright rude.
They have little cards and pick up points at the local mail office for those situations..
Night's worked them myself for 10 years...being woken up was a certain for various reasons... during daylight hours.
If it was my parcel I would be mortified if a neighbour had been woken up when it was so obvious they were asleep.
