You get double ovens with a regular large size oven and a smaller oven. No need to compromise on size if you're building a kitchen from scratch.
OP, if you have room for the double go for it. You'll never say 'I wish I didn't have as much oven', but you're quite likely to say 'I wish I had more'Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Double oven every time.I use the small oven most, but it's good to know I have the large oven if/when needed.
Mine is a Zanussi.0 -
Thanks to everyone for their comments so far. I thought they’d be a bit like that.
At this point in time I am minded to buy a Neff T40B30X2 Induction Hob.
I was looking at buying a Neff U15M52N3GB double oven, (seen prices at around £700) to keep a bit of continuity, when I looked at the Which? Online web site I found that they had given the oven a score of 77%, this score put it into their best buy category.
At the same time, however, of the 14 members who submitted reviews just 4 members scored it 5 out of 5; while 8 give it a score of 1 or 2, out of 5 (4 rated it as 1 out of 5) and I must say those reviews have put me off somewhat!
I’m also looking at the Bosch HBM56B551B but at prices ranges from around £900 and up I really would have to do some serious research to justify that outlay.
My plan would is to buy in the New Year sales. At the moment while I’m somewhat cautious of the Neff offering I'll keep it, and the Bosch, on the list of possibles for a little longer
Anyone care to share their oven purchases and experiences?

Who do you trust? An organisation like Which? or online reviewers who have bought the product and use it on a daily basis?
As I've mentioned the Neff U15M52N3GB was on my list but when I read reviews by Which? members I was alarmed at the difference between the Which? Report and their members reviews. Today I looked at the John Lewis site and all thr reports there were positive!
When buying an article like this what value do you put on other reviewers views?

You could look at Good Housekeeping Institute reviews as well as Which? & Amazon.
I currently have a single oven. It's fine for what I need, but, given free choice, I'd have a double oven.
My parents cook smaller meals in their top oven, or, when using the main oven, they use the top for plate-warming. Only annoying this is that the large oven is fan-only, with no option to turn the fan off.
There's one advertised on TV where the door hinges down & then tucks away into a slot - could be handy in a narrow kitchen?
Caution about having a microwave above eye-height - some liquids can boil when the container is lifted out, despite having looked still when the door was opened - you wouldn't want that frothing up in your face.0 -
Hedgehog99 thanks for your reply. I had looked at built in microwaves but to be honest they were proving to costly0

A double oven we upgraded to a double last year this sounds daft we don't know how we managed without it, esp when I do a bulk cooking can have both ovens on at different temperatures - ours was from Argos paid about £400 for it sxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Neff do the single oven with a slide-away door, it looks great and is on the shopping list for my new kitchen. I usually look at the reviews on ao online. I have only ever had a single oven, even when cooking for the family. I have always managed. I used a double oven in one job I had but it was not possible to use both ovens at the same time, which I thought defeated the object!0

I've got a Neff dual oven. Love it! The big oven has lots of settings so you can have fan, or heat from bottom (good for pizza!), conventional etc..... Then the small oven just heats normally but is also the grill! I love my Neff and would recommend!Children are born with wings .... Teachers help them to flyOne day your life is going to flash in front of your eyes.... Make sure it's worth watching!!!!!0

Foolishly when we did a new kitchen 5 years ago I bought a single oven, had a solid fuel cooker in mind as well, that didnt happen and the oven was a nightmare, was almost glad when it gave up the ghost. I replaced it with a much larger Electrolux single oven which I cant comment on as its only been used once, a double would have involved more re organisation than I could afford. When having a new kitchen I would always opt for adouble.....never found size to be a problem
I have never been able to afford Neff but my brother has had 2 and on his experience I wouldnt give one house room....maybe he has been unlucky! Do as much research among friends and any other means possible, the most important decision is to go for a double!
