vodafone pac code

Hi guys.

I've got a Vodafone PAYG sim (not activated yet) that I really want to use the number for, but I don't want to keep it with Vodafone.

Does anyone know if they will give me a PAC code to transfer to giffgaff without it having any credit on it? Or will it simply be a case of having to register it and put a tenner on it and ringing them that way and lose the tenner?

I always inherit my girlfriends old phones and a giffgaff goodybag is the best deal for me and I'd like this number for personal reasons.

Has anyone had any experience of doing this??

You can't get a PAC unless it's active

    1. Put £10 on phone
    2. Get PAC
    3. Use up credit
    4. Transfer number to new network.

I would question the need to put any credit on the sim - just ask for the PAC as you've seen a better offer elsewhere...

    Try 0808 004 4423 from a landline or Skype

Why waste £10 on Vodafone when they offer £5 topups?!

However, a topup isn't always needed for activation.
My Tesco sim, that I ported one of my numbers to, had never been topped up and remained active with £0 balance from the start for 2 years.
    Don't know about Vodafone.

Shows how long ago I used a Vodafone PAYG. Go for the £5 option.

I think that option is only if you have a top up card ...may be wrong though.

Grumbler has a point though that maybe activating the sim without topping up and then making a couple of incoming calls to check it works ok would work, although you wouldn't be able to check the outgoing calls and texts work.
Saying that, the way Vodafone have been having problems with porting numbers recently I doubt I would risk it without topping up so I didn't give any excuses for the porting not to happen

  • I'll try a fiver and ring them then!

    Cheers
