o2 mis-sold me a contract by promising a free £199 accessory - anyone else affected?
Options
I'm in the UK, and recently signed up for a Note4 with o2.
I found out yesterday I was mis-sold a contract, where they promised me a kitsound speaker worth £199 if I took on the contract.
Turns out, after having it in writing *twice*, I wasn't eligible for it. This was the deciding factor in signing up with o2 over other mobile providers.
If you've been mis-sold too, let me know - I want to:
* Either null the contract, or get what I was promised (I don't even particularly want the accessory!)
* If o2 has repeatedly done this to get people signed up, make sure they honour their agreement / are reported to the ombudsman / get an article written about persistent mis-selling by a friend of mine who writes a mobile phone column
I particularly despise giant corporations that lie to consumers to get them signed up, so this has riled me somewhat.

More info, why are they saying you aren't you eligible?
How long have you had the contract?
Did you sign up online or in a store and was it direct with O2 or was the offer through a dealer?0 -
The T&C's of the offer appear to be very straightforward.
Note 4 with 10gb or 20gb O2 contract (or prior to 11th dec 8gb)
What tariff did you purchase and what is their reason for not giving you the accessory for free?0 -
I can't post links as I'm a new user!
All communications, including the order, were via the o2 web chat, from their site, so I have transcripts of everything. However, there are now some communications via Twitter, as it seems to get their attention.
They replied to me yesterday with:"We're sorry you were incorrectly advisedYou wouldn't be eligible on the 5GB tariff. DM us your number so we can feed back."
Web chat snippets..

A quick note: After 22 Retweets on twitter with over 4.2K impressions, I'm now in touch with their "specialist team". I'm pretty confident that my side of things will be resolved - I'm most interested in if this is an isolated mistake, or whether they've lied to other customers. I thought this might be a good place to ask
Given that two different people at o2 said I was eligible, then it might be a dodgy sales technique. If it is, I want to find others who have been affected. I don't like corporations that screw over consumers!0
