So is it zero interest on spending at the same time as having an outstanding balance transfer? I remember a few cards which had a catch where you couldn't do both without incurring a whopping interest rate. Can't remember why though, or perhaps it's been banned.

the terms simply state

If interest is charged at the same rate on different amounts, we will apply your payment to the different amounts in the following order: Cash Transactions, payment protection
insurance premiums, Purchases, Balance Transfers, other
Special Transactions, other Transactions, followed by
other fees. If you have more than one Special Transaction
at the same rate, your payment will be applied first to the
Special Transaction that has the earliest Promotional
Period end date.
