should I stay on a unlimted sim only plan or a fixed sim only plan?

Options
hello all,

I am coming to an end of my sim only plan with talktalk.

I currently have the following monthly plan:

unlimited text messages (I am sure there must be a fixed amount)
unlimited call minutes (max 2000 minutes)
4gb data a month

Total price = £12.00 a month

Talk Talk mobile loyalty said they will offer me this deal for another 12 months if I want to.

On there website however, talktalk have the following:

unlimited text messages (I am sure there is a limit)
2000 minutes per month
4gb data

Total price: £10.00

my first thought is to simply transfer to the second offer, saving a total of £24.00 for the month, however, I wanted to ask, should I remain on the legacy mobile package, or save money and go for the current package??

any thoughts????
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!

    I think that

    a) the saving will be £2 per month, unless there is a typo ... 12-10=2

    b) as you don't tell us your usage, how can we possibly comment on which choice you make.

most likely ment £24 a year saving, not a month.

How close do you usually get to 2000 minutes ?
if you dont really make that many calls, then it makes sense to switch to the cheaper one.
  • 2000 minutes is a lot of talking. As others have said, check how many mins you used over the past few months.

Check the T&Cs, the network appears to be trying to get you to sign up for another 12 month contract... If it automatically becomes a 30 day one at the end of the current term, at the present cost, you would be better off with the 30 day notice arrangement unless you are offered a significant discount to take a 12 month one.

All the networks are in a state of turmoil due to the roll out of 4G, or in the case of EE, the amalgamation of Orange and T-Mobile. This is resulting in mast site changes that can leave you high and dry either at home, work, friends house, or somewhere in-between!

If you are stuck with a long contract it can be expensive to swap networks, with a 30 day SIM only you can swap in a few days.
