Unable to generate MAC code?

Hi guys, I am due to move to plusnet so I was speaking to a representative from talk talk. I asked for my MAC code but this is the response I received:
Your broadband and landline service is provided on TalkTalk’s unbundled network and we are unable to generate a MAC code to transfer your broadband service to another provider. In order to transfer your service, you should contact your preferred provider and let them know that you are currently on an LLU network and that the MAC process does not apply. Your new provider should be able to advise you how best to transfer to them with minimal interruption to your service. Alternatively, I can disconnect your TalkTalk services, however: This will leave you without a telephone line. You will lose your telephone number. You may need to pay to reactivate your line, which could cost up to £130.
Any ideas what this means and how I should go about getting my MAC code?

The MAC , migration authorisation code, is really only for moving between company's that use BT's WLR product, in other words company's that sell BT products under thee own name, or BT themselves, this was the norm a few years ago before ( mainly ) TT and Sky started using their own LLU /MPF equipment,
TT don't have to give you a MAC as you are LLU not WLR, Plusnet should still be able to migrate you, but you will need to make sure they raise the correct type of order so that you keep your existing number( if that's what you want) and that you don't suffer a big break in service, and don't have to pay anything more than a takeover of the line type charge, which is usually so small the service provider (Plusnet) absorb it, if they end up paying Openreach for a full install because they messed up the transfer they may try bill you for it0 -
Bit confused. So basically, should I call up plus net and let them know I am on LLU? I have a letter saying I will be going "live" on the 17th although my talk talk account actually runs upto 23rd of the month. I take it that on the 17th, I just connect my plusnet router in and talktalk will just disconnect me so I assume my transition is seamless ?0

It sounds like Plusnet may have ordered a new line rather than arranging to takeover the existing TT one, did Plusnet give you an appointment for an installer to visit ?,if so it may be a 'new' line, if a takeover order was raised you don't need to wait in on an appointment, as all the work is done in the exchange,
Did you get a new number from PN or are they porting the number from TT, if it's the same number that would suggest it's a takeover but you would expect the dates of the cease and provide to be the same not 6 days apart
If you have an appointment and have been told to expect a visit on a particular date, you may find that the installer just takes the physical cable pair the TT line is connected to and disconnects TT and connects the Plusnet dialtone& broadband to it, it's a lot easier for them to do this rather than installing a new line along side the TT line, just means you effectively pay double line rental for 6 days0 -
You don't need a MAC code.
Just sign up with whoever you want to and give them your current phone number during the joining process0 -
Thanks for the replies. I just want to confirm that I got my line activated today with no hassles. Not even need a phone call! Thanks0
