Cancellation with BT after 6 months

We are moving out from the apt from UK to another country, and I totally frustrated with BT cancellation policy (internet and phone line). We only using them for 6 months (from June 2014), and as far as I understand we can not change account owners, and can't actually cancel it before 12 months. And somehow we need to return them their equipment (as we won't be in UK, so it's more complicated)
Ideally, I was thinking of new tenants using our internet for the remaining half a year, but paying from their bank account, and after 12 months taking over it under their name?
any suggestions, pls?

  • BT can't stop you cancelling, even if you are within minimum term.

If you trust the new tenants you could leave it in your name with their payment details but if they ran up any debt or large bills, as the account holder, you would be liable.

I would cancel, and pay the early term action charges as the safest option.

You signed a contract and a possible work around is the new owners to pay the outstanding balance in full .

This wouldn't suit me, if I was the next tenant, as taking on someone else's contract runs the risk that they may leave a large calls bill/internet excess amount owing (especially as they would be out of the country). Also, I would not want to go with BT and would prefer my own new contract with its accompanying perks.

The new tenant may have their own contract which they wish to transfer from their previous home.
