Had to go to Mr Ts today as dh needed some stuff for a buffet he is doing (he runs a staff canteen) and I did need fabric softener and some nappies. However my twins were such a pain trying to get out of the trolley and my 5yr old can't stop himself picking up every leaflet in sight I ended up forgetting the softener!!! anyway didn't do too bad as I probably would have bought more stuff on impulse if the girls were being better so my spend was £11.90 and at lease included a big pack of nappies (but did have fab lollies on as they are on offer and I gave into kid pressure)..

I was so pleased when I got home though as my veg box had arrived and it was really nice - I have ordered already again for next week but got more fruit and veg and not bought the extras to take it to the min £15... Now I need to plan to make sure I use it up (already eaten a carrot sith ds and it was really carrotty tasting yum yum)

Anyway going to take th kids to a local play area after lunch, cost will probably be around a tenner or so - can anyone tell me if you count this sort of thing in your budget??

I'm going to try and budget £400 for the month on groceries including nappies. I would like to eventually halve it but for the moment if I can stop it escalating I'd be happy. Do I include the kids magazines in the total?
Really you can include what you think fit, it's entirely up to you. Personally I include newspapers and magazines in my "Entertainment budget".

Everything has gone haywire in my house. I felt so positive when i started the challenge as i felt in control of my life for once. Cleaning, house, kids, money, work i had organsied. Then my husband tears a muscle at cricket and my control has gone. We run a business together so i have to do all his work, my work, kids etc. My MIL has come to give us a hand until Sunday so i went out this morning and got some essentials tfor the weekend. Stuff that i really didn't have to get as we were working well through our freezer. Unfortunately the chicken breasts i had left out to do Chicken a la king with have been thrown out by my MIL thinking they were rubbish. I'll update my budget when i have a minute
So sorry to hear of your problems poohspals. I used to run my own business and it's a full time job isn't it, let alone having to look after the house and family. Hope your DH recovers quickly.

Another £10.43 for me on what should hopefully be a week's shop, half of that (blimey) was on an organic free range chicken, but I reckon with careful cutting up/ freezing etc that should do me all week. Rest was on a loaf of bread, fruit & veg. Oh and I went to Somerfield for a change, got a few decent reduced things but generally it reminded me why I don't shop there!

    Good afternoon all.

Mike - you are SUCH a good egg! I'm sure Mrs Mike appreciates it.

Poohspals - sorry to hear about DH. Grit your teeth until Sunday, your MIL means well! ;)

I am doing OK so far - I have spent a fair bit this week but it is my "big" spend at the beginning of the month and, as I learnt last month, hopefully it will all even out by month end.

Just been to Sainsbury's to get everything I need for next weeks meal plan. Expected to spend about £10.00 - spent £12 BUT £1 of that was dog food for a charity who were collecting pet food at the entrance.

got my first ever veg box delivery today. Cost me £7.50. I got
    4 potatoes
    About 8 carrots
    a small squash
    4 tomatoes
    bunch of lovely spring onions
    big bag of lettuce.

To be honest, seems very expensive to me but, as I've never done it before, got nothing to compare with. Anyone thoughts about whether this is too expensive or not woudl be very welcome:confused:

Hey all, grabbed a bit of veg at lidls today, £2.30. Which means I should be able to stretch my food already in through this week and hopefully a couple of days next week.
Also had to get some dog food, £8.99 for 15kg bag, the local store has a deal on, buy 5 bags of this 'Fab' brand and get one free. I'm one bag away!
Also bought poochie a knuckle bone for a treat, £1.05.

This brings my shopping total to £25.68 spend so far this month.

Ooops. Went shopping with my list all prepared - spent £10 more than I ought to have done (but bought extra fruit and meat for later in the month) and I forgot to get the frozen sweetcorn!

Don't go shopping when it's busy as you get flustered!! ;)

Have been for my weekly shop at Asda and have come in under budget by nearly £5.00. I spent £30.02 and I think I should be able to last out until Friday or Saturday, possibly Sunday as Friday is the day I move house and there will be enough to do without going shopping aswell!
    Loving the dtd thread. x

Hi all, Bobbykins, I got my veg box today too, I chose veg/salad/fruit for £10 (but there is a min order of £15 plus delivery £) so next week I am getting a bigger veg/fruit/salad instead of just a few bits on top to make it up...anyway for the tenner I got

    Bunch of carrots
    Bag of spuds
    2 x large onions
    cauliflower
    fresh peas
    lettuce
    spring onion bunch
    tomatoes (around 6)
cucumber (big fat thing ooo er)
    3 Bananas
    large punnet of strawberries

All is really lovely and fresh so I am pleased with that

Actualy could anyone tell me, I am currently cooking some roast potatoes for tea (I have cut the pots quite small, parboiled them and have coated them in olive oil, herbs, seasoning etc. I have done quite a few, so when they are cooked will I be able to freeze some leftovers?
