Flight cancelled by TAP help please!

Hi there, is there anyone who can give me some advice or help?
I'm due to travel with my son (3years old) on the return leg Stockholm to Lisbon on the 28th Dec. I have today received an email from TAP saying that my flight has been cancelled as TAP are striking 27-30th Dec. They asked me to call them so after 10 minutes waiting on the phone spending my money I'm told that the only options are that I can change the flight date to the 26th Dec or 31st December or to get a refund of the return part of the journey only. So they want to ruin my Christmas or New Year and they 'are sorry for the inconvenience'. Unfortunately they are the only direct flight operating this route.
Do you think I am entitled to any compensation. I have not decided what option to take as if I change to the 26th that's my Christmas pretty much ruined with my sons grandparents or if I choose the 31st then I'll get back too late to celebrate New Year. If I take a refund this will no where near cover the cost of new flights with another airline which by the way wouldn't even be direct as TAP are the only ones who do direct on this route.
Please some one help with with this mess. This is the 3rd time TAP have done this to me this year.
Cheers, Jen

If TAP staff are going on strike, what would you expect them to do ?
Buy another ticket and if it is more expensive, your travel insurance may cover the cost.
Yes, you might have to take a more inconvenient route - or you could accept the date change with TAP and try to get some money off for inconvenience. They may even pay for the extra nights in the hotel.0 -
Have you asked them to re-route you on another airline on the 28th, even if it's one stop?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
