Can you still buy DVD Recorders for discs?

Looking for a DVD recorder to record onto discs, NOT onto a hard drive.
Have searched but everything seems to be geared to hard drive.
Doesn't need to be state of the art, just do discs.
Does anyone know if these are still available?
Thanks.

Beware, some like the panasonic 740 let you record to disk, but you can only play back on the same machine (copy protection 'feature').
One reason I like to archive to disk is in case the machine dies, but that clearly won't work.0 -
I have one which I sourced via ebay a few years ago. As long as you 'finish' the disc you are burning, you can normally play on another system no problems.0

I don't think you've searched very hard, Amazon alone have a large choice. Admittedly a lot of them also have a HDD, but that doesn't stop you using the record to DVD facility.0

Yes I did look on Amazon, but thought they were expensive for what is just a secondary unit. Also checked Currys, Argos and some other places, but no luck.
Perhaps Ebay is the way to go:)Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
You might be lucky & find one on Freecycle or Freegle............0

I suspect the issue is the increasing popularity of high-definition content making DVD a less suitable means of keeping it. A few years back there was quite a selection, now I think there's only one manufacturer who offers a DVD+HDD recorder and I can't remember who that was. Lots are just using something like a Humax and connecting it to the home network for backup or sharing purposes.0

I picked up mine brand new for £50 on ebay.0

The current crop of Panasonic Blu-Ray recorders will also record on DVD-R and DVD-RAM.0
