Woman who used to cut my hair, her husband drove for a living. He told her he wasn't allowed to drive his car as he had done all his hours.
I told her that wasn't true, she wouldn't believe me...
In hindsight, I think he was pretty smart getting her to drive him about.
    Try enforcing that one!

HI everyone. The reply I received was that the driver was not over his hours but did not have his paper log with him. Apparently, the bus did not have an electronic log. Again they have profusely apologised. They have asked what do I think is a fair amount of compensation. I think 50%which takes into account them being stuck at the checkpoint and the reimbursement of cab fares .

I would be surprised if it had a paper log, I think they're telling you porkies.
  • I'm not sure what a paper log is either, its years since we had log books (though still possible use on domestic hours for some lorries so maybe some bus services too), maybe the bod means the dodgy driver had no tachograph paper disc inserted.

It sounds like eyewash to me too.

Or had supposedly lost his tacho card (Which he had no doubt reported to his countries version of the DVLA and the UK police would have found it really easy to check this...not) and he was keeping a manual paper record of his hours.

So many dodgy people in the private hire world

I must admit it sounds a bit weird to me too. I'm very grateful that you guys have given me info on all of this. I would have preferred if they just offered an a mount though rather than ask me what I think is fair though. I'm glad they didn't try to get out of it though I think they might now that ive said 50% of what I paid as compensation.
