Limo driver ban for 24 hours?

As I understand it the law surrounding these limo things is rather complex and it sounds like the driver was caught out. Does it need a tachograph? Does driver need a PSV licence? Is it just licenced as a minicab? etc etc.0

VOSA are human Rottweilers, I drive a 16 seat (max) bus for the disabled and can remove seats to accommodate wheelchairs. Woe betide me if my seating arrangements do not match up with the days roster on the max chairs/passengers i can carry at any one time. The firm advise us that we are on our own if caught, esp with regards to Tachos, and as they will fel the flak , we are considered possibly expendable. Harsh but true. The Driver and the firm must be a bit 'nervous'0

Its down to the meddling EU and their interfering rules. Buses running on routes with service stops at distances of not more than 50 miles between said stops don't have tachos as the timetable is deemed to replace the tacho.
Minibuses (such as the party bus you booked) and coaches (not running routes with service stops) DO require a tacho in place.
Therefore, the driver may well have not had a tacho card in place, so unable to prove his driving hours, thus the enforced 24 hour break.Never Knowingly Understood.

So didn't we have drivers' hours restrictions before we joined the EU?
Funny, I must have imagined them.
Yes, on the lorries we had a 12.5 hour maximum working day, once we adopted EU standards we got the tacho and upped the working day to 15 hours, which is where it still is....much safer that...where's the rolling eyes smiley when you want one.0 -
Hi everyone and thanks for your replies. Well I've had an apology from the company and they have escalated my complaint to the owner, so I'll see what he makes of it. At least they haven't tried to completely wiggle out of it -so far.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0

And then at the end of shift you can jump in your dirty great bus/coach you use for personal use, and drive to scotland and back.....0 -

Thats about the top and bottom of it, though i suspect those few drivers who own such things use them to sleep in whilst commuting on a weekly basis to richer pastures.0
