Country Wide?

We've just received the paper work regarding our buyers solicitors and they happen to be Country Wide, there using the ones through their EA, Geering & Colyer. But I'm having bad vibes about it because I found this site which looks pretty awful for our buyer and possibly in the long term for us, we decided to go through Abode because we read some good reviews about them.
Should I be concerned?

Write to your buyers with the details of this website!0

I used CPL and found them to be efficient when something was at the stage of needing to be done. One common complaint is you phone and get through to a junior clerk; well I don't want my lawyer spending all day on the phone answering every little query from a nervous buyer.
Most delays in our chain came from vendor's small local solicitors (and vendor), who were always off sick, on holiday, or uncontactable, and even went home at 2pm on the expected day of exchange, delaying things by a whole weekend.
It is up to your buyers who they use. You might be a little peeved if they told you to use a different estate agent, or lawyer, or surveyor, or removal firm, just because they had heard something on the Internet.Been away for a while.0 -
Last post obviously from a Countrywide employee!
Who told you "no contact" - the EA???
Rubbish! You can have all the contact you want. You are perfectly entitled to contact them and express concerns, they may even thank you for bringing it to their attention. You are not demanding that they change legal representation; merely advising them of the fact that there could be a problem!
If problems occur weeks down the line you might kick yourself for not speaking up sooner. If I were the buyer I'd be pretty miffed you didn't pipe up at the start!0 -

Thanks for your input, but if you check the site it was more than just a few people grumbling and I have no intention of telling them to use a different estate agent, lawyer or surveyor, but surly as there is so much money and homes involved, they have a right to be aware of other peoples opinion and experiences. I really don't want to still be waiting come Christmas for a moving date and I don't think the people we are buying the bungalow from would be willing to either.
Would people want to employ a plumber to do a job in their home if they heard he had caused all sorts of problems doing previous jobs?
I know our buyers should at least have the infomation to decide for them selves what they should do, I just don't know how to go about it?

I have posted to say that I am currently with Countrywide, and have found them to be almost excellent.
I haven't exchanged contracts yet, but everything that needs to be done so far is being done, I have just sent of an additional enquiries form, and I am waiting for searches to come back.
I know this may all change, but so far so good!
I am with the Manchester firm, OP which firm is your buyer using?
It could be another firm thats crap (just a thought)0 -

Thanks for the info. I've just looked and our buyers are also using a Manchester firm, so you've made me feel a bit more optomistic.
Our chain consists of us moving to an empty bungalow being sold by a son, we don't require a morgage which makes it quicker for us, our buyers and their first time buyer, so really there are only three in the chain. You have to listen to learn!0 -
That is the same as me too!
We have 3 in our chain and the one above us is moving into rented.
I must admit that I do ring them quite a bit, but that isn't because they are not doing their job I just need constant reassurance that things are moving, I have 2 young children and need to know where we stand at all times so we can plan for delay's etc:rolleyes:0 -
