I do love Butterflybrain's pics though. Got me thinking about what else I could stab with spaghetti but I'm coming up blank.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I use frozen vegetarian hot dogs, thus:
Dice onion and fry in bottom of saucepan.
Meanwhile, microwave 4 veggie hot dogs for 1 minute to defrost, and cut into chunks.
Add to saucepan.
Add 1 tin chopped tomatoes and whatever herbs you have to hand.
Heat up and simmer for a few mins.
Meanwhile, also cook 5 oz tagliatelle according to the pack instructions.
Put tagliatelle on plates, add tomato and sausage mixture.
Use napkins (my DH cannot eat this without getting in a mess), and enjoy - serves 2.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

If you intend eating them, do not, I repeat DO NOT, read the ingredients. I did this and couldn't even look at them againLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Gosh, we eat a lot worse. Think pate, pies / pastries, sausages, spreads, sandwich fillings etc
Sometimes its worth getting over pig ears and trotters (which can be prepared as a gastronomic delicacy). If you're skint, then there's at least some protein and taste in these meals.
It would be good if we could get over the snob-thing.

I think it was the way that the ingredients were termed. I wasn't trying to be snobby as such and was trying to make a bit of a joke. As for trotters and such, I agree with well sourced snout to tail eating.
I'm sorry if I implied that someone who was struggling shouldn't eat them. Or indeed anyone who enjoys them. I just found that they weren't for me.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Oh, I didn't mean my post to come over virtuous at all. Sorry. I do appreciate where you are coming from Carrie.
But - it is worth being mindful that if we eat an animal we should be decent and eat / make use of it all, not to be wasteful.
My mum in the 70 / 80's's used to make a pizza tart kind of thing that had hotdogs, sliced with tomato sauce, cheese and whatever veggies were around, all baked in a yeast-made bread dough crust pie. Bit like a Chicago deep pan before its time!0 -
