I slice them up and add them to lentil or pea soup. I suppose it would help to bulk up most soups.
Thanks for the tip on freezing them once opened. I put off opening them because I thought they had to be used once opened. (OH likes them and keeps sneaking them into the trolley, like those smokey sausages which are about 1000 calories each! Now I'll be able to ration him)
The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Would i just add it in at the end, as its already cooked?
The longer they cook the less they remain hotdogs and the more they become part of the curry.0 -
First thing I thought of was creating something similar to corned beef hash. So mashed potatoes or other mashed veg with the sausages chopped up and seasoned?0

I'd thinly slice them and add them to a quiche. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Slice them into chunks and add them to Bratkartoffeln...(quick version...fry some onions in a pan...add some sliced boiled potatoes and fry until browning and then add the hotdog chunks for a few seconds until warmed through)...season and serve with mustard.
Add chunks to a pot of homemade split pea or lentil soup.
Just heat them through and serve them with a warm potato salad. (Good with the German style non-mayo salad...dress the warm potatoes with a little oil, vinegar and herbs, maybe add some gherkins)
How about an Auflauf? (Sort of like a frittata or tortilla or Spanish omelette thing)...cut up chunks of hotdogs into an oven proof dish...add some cooked chopped left-over veg...add some cold cooked pasta (or potatoes)...then pour ver an egg/milk mix...top with a little cheese if liked...back until the eggy mix is set (A family left-over favourite)0 -
The most traumatic foodstuff I've ever seen was made with these! As I'm still processing the trauma, I'll share it here ;-)
Munich, they're fond of pork products. A friend was served a plate of different forms of pork and sausages prepared every which way. The frankfurters are sliced lengthways into quarters from each end to about a third of the length from the ends. Deep fried. The skin contracts and the quarters curl back looking like gnarled witchy fingers. Terrified me, but the only use I can imagine for those foul tubes of porky offal and filler!0 -
Thanks Everyone, I'll have a look through all of your suggestions and the links.
I didn't know you could freeze them, so that's good!0 -

Have a look at the ingredients on the packaging then give them to the dog . Be prepared for it to turn its nose up at them !0
