Any ideas on whether the monitor is any good? Not really keen on a widescreen sort of monitor, but at that price, its tempting! I've still got 27days to return the Aldi PC (not opened yet). I'm not very technical with PC's so don't really know which one of these is fastest, etc. Just a basic PC which offers internet browsing, emails, word, and thats about all would be brilliant.... anything else/additional is a bonus such as a large 19" monitor :-)
Hi there,
Honestly, whether you know anything or nothing about PCs, I really would recommend you stay with the Aldi base unit. The main factor is that you are getting a 3 year warranty included - with the dell you will have to pay extra for that. The overall quality of the Aldi system would probably be higher than the dell as well. You can pick up a 19" widescreen flat panel from ebuyer for about £90, so overall you will have an excellent system with a 3 year warranty, built from pretty high quality components (better quality than the dell) for under £500. Sure, £100 or so more than the Dell, but definitley worth it.
Just my opinion.
Hope this helps.0 -
I've got to agree with the pro Aldi comments. I got an Aldi base station a couple of years ago and its going strong. It packed up after 1.5 years and they took my pc away (from my work) and returned it to me within 14 days good as new.
3 year warranty for free is well worth it in this day and age. The dvd writer has started to cause occasionally now (I use my pc quite a lot) but again its a quality product (Pioneer dvd writer), I know I could have taken it back no probs but used it as an excuse to buy a lightscribe.
With pcs and the no. of components there will always be occasional flaws so a 3 year guarantee is really useful.0 -
Yes, that helps alot, thanks. It's reassuring to know that I have the 3year warranty, but just slightly cautious whether it will cover the PC incase something does go wrong... I don't want Aldi turning back saying that "it's not covered as part of the warranty" as it happens quite alot with purchases - companies finding reasons not to fulfill the warranty.0

Hi, the desktop PC came up while I was away so I was wondering if any of the London or nearby stores still have these in stock?
Can anyone help?0 -
I was away too...
I called into my local store yesterday and apparently they are sold out nationwide0 -
Every three or four months normally. The spec is usually a little better every time.0
