Hi All
Logging a £15 spend today. Was very good & went first to Tesco to check for bargains, which I found. 2 400g mashed potato packs for 11p each. I would NEVER buy pre made mash as it is in my opinion the height of laziness, but when its that much for less than the cost of one loose baking potato Im taking it.
Got a loaf for 78p, Hovis. Which was a fresh loaf, thats loads less than they used to charge. So £1 spent in Tesco after I'd fed all my road kill into the machine.
Then to Sains. Spent £14. No meat, all staples really. I found 2p on the floor in there so used that off my total. I also had a voucher for 40 extra points if I bought bubble bath, which I needed anyway.
Tonight I cant decide whether to make a chicken curry, or chicken Fajitas. In the house of using up both the chickens
Grocery spend is looking very tight now but at least tommorow finally marks the half way point.

Haven't updated for a few days - my total is currently standing at £126.62/200. Unfortunately, with the minimum spend for grocery delivery at £40, it looks like I'm going to overshoot for the month if I do 2 more weekly shops this month
Some damage limitation may be in order.
My partner has a very expensive habit of drinking cans of ginger beer, and it costs a fortune. I would say that makes up at least £20 of the spend so far. I've tried getting 2L bottles of it instead, but the cans appear to be way too convenient. Very frustrating.
I'm debating whether to go for a quick top-up shop today, for butter (made bread at the weekend!), diluting juice and some meat for dinner (forgot to take anything out of the freezer yesterday)

Have just walked up into town and spent 60p on a newspaper and £2.09 on a pack of two reduced chocolate puddings so will add those to my total.
So far, I seem to have spent far less than I thought on food but I know we still have to go to CostC* plus I'll probably do a biggish food shop tomorrow.

Hi popped to Tesco to pick up a tub of options hot chocolate as I had an offer on one of my apps. Also grabbed 4 pints of milk and a lettuce. Should have been £3.49, but with hubbies discount and a small balance on a gift card, it came to £1.49 so adding that to my grocery spends!Grocery Challenge 2024

Spent £35.12 in Aldi yesterday.
I'll need to get a few bits from Tesco, but not a lot.
Part of my NYR (New Years Resoloution) was to stop pretending that I am well off, and to shop like I used to when I was skintThis includes shopping in Aldi every week again, instead of twitting about in Morrisons buying organic milk.
I had a chat with myself over Christmas, and told myself that I cant AFFORD any more twitting about with organic stuff, nor free range, nor 'local produce', because I cant afford it!
I'd love to be able to eat only local and organic, but the truth is that I CANT! There, I've said it! No more twitting about!
As well as that, I have loads of dried fruit and oats, plus flour, sugar and eggs, so can MAKE some snacks for the kids instead of buying it (with the exception of chocolate hobnobs, they are food heaven).
Should be an NSD today, as I don't need anything. I have to make some bread as we go through a 1.5lb loaf every day here.0
