Phone around your local supermarkets, ask for the duty manager, explain the situation and ask what price he can offer for them! I know that Asda would do a special deal in such circumstances.0

Supermarkets need more than a few days notice for bulk orders. Also most stores wont let you buy in bulk off the shelf as it strips them bare. So you will either have to do several shops, or go to different stores and buy a few at each.
Cash n carrys are not cheaper than supermarkets for crisps n drinks as they only sell the larger, single sale packs. If you want cheap crisps it will be asda/tesco value brand puff type crisps that are cheapest. Homebargains, keep reducing pack size, so most are now 5 packs for £1. My price range to know if something is a bargain is usualky 7 packs for £1
Use mysupermarket to see where crisps are on offer and compare prices. If you want to buy from a supermarket go with a friend and have a trolley each , going thru tills separately0 -
They certainly do in their shops. There's 2 shops where I live. If you are looking to buy certain brands they may not stock them.Counting_Pennies wrote: »Thanks all, just looked on home bargains website and they don't stock any cakes or crisps
A larger retailer, such as Makro or bigger supermarkets such as Asda will probably have the quantities you require in, smaller shops may not hold the quantity, or being selling really quickly, so were you going to contact the place in advance to check, especially if you are going this weekend (your op says you are buying this week).0 -
When is the party and why on earth weren't you given enough time to approach supermarkets and manufacturers to ask for donations of the required food and drink ?
If you use your local cornershop see if they will cost the stuff at the cash and carry they use (and let you use their trade card). If it is for a school there is probably access to a trade card either direct from the school or from a parent in business.

I think the OP is alluding to this story http://www.closeronline.co.uk/2014/12/parents-furious-after-frozen-themed-christmas-party-ends-in-disaster#.VIw2TWtYCSM0

Homebargains will do packets of golden wonder for 15-20p a packet (may be less if you buy the multipacks)
Similar sort of prices for drinks and cupcakes0 -
I take it you're not organising the party? Because I'd be inclined to tell whoever is to find some other chump as they clearly have not forward planned this at all.0

6 packs for 99p but when I was in my local home bargains today the crisps were flying off the shelves, lots of empty spaces, clearly people preparing for Xmas.0
