Help / advice re talktalk broadband

I apologise if I am on the wrong board for this query - I wondered if anyone had a similar experience with talk talk broadband.... and if so what I should do?

~ Changed our phone line and arranged for broad band with talktalk - received go live date as 29th april - then it became 16th may ~ received a bill for £47.99 18 June ~ telephoned an 'adam' in kings 37 ~ to say I objected as had not received modem so could not of used service - felt they had broken contract and I wished for account to be closed - this gentleman was most apologetic and asked what he could do to change my mind - to which I replied there was nothing ~ he said he would send out a modem , refund all monies on account and give us an opportunity for them to make ammends -

Finally received modem 5/7/20007 ~ however I decided 'enough was enough' and phoned customer services - who could not put me through so had to call back 6/7/2007 - explained situation to a call handler ~ and that I required account to be closed -

Now for my problem :- just got back home to a final demand - £61.49  - account to be transferred to debt collection agency in four days - of course I have tried to call talktalk - apart from being on hold for long durations I have been cut off twice - once accidently however the second call was deliberate - mid way through me requesting - politely- to speak to a manager/supervisor- the call handler was extremely rude- refused to listen to what had happened and stated in a patronising voice that I simply must pay the bill - I informed him that I had not used the service due to talktalk letting us down and felt I needed to speak to a supervisor

Sorry to waffle on - just wanted to know if anyone has also had this experience and if you have any advice as to what I should do-

Thank-you

hi there not the same problem as you but when I did leave these clowns I got the same type of bill and I can tell you that if you dont pay it in the 4 days they will send in the debt collecters and it will go bad for your credit ratings ,this has to be the worst of the worst companys, but I did get it paid on time ,it seems so easy for time to put the phone down on you becaue they know you will never get the same person.good luck and if you get the chance leave these clowns asap

Hi, ignore customer Services, go straight to the Top complaints team.

    E-mail: dunstoc@cpwplc.com
    Tel: 0207 617 4697.

They are very efficient and will definitely listen to you. They also have far more authority than CS. the problem with CS is that you never speak to the same person twice. The Top complainst team will assign you one person who will stick with you until the matter is sorted.

    Hope this helps.

    H.
Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.
  • Thank-you for your replies - I shall take your advice and hopefully get some success
    Thanks again
