    Clever idea. But only works when at home together, well maybe when somewhere else together.
    This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • Go with Skype, perhaps not so convenient as just having to use the one app, but unless you get a mac/ipad or iphone, it's one of the easiest ways to go.

    Google Hangouts would be another reccomendation. Works on iOS, Android, Mac OSX and Windows.
    Not only can you video-chat, you can share photos and other stuff as well.

    My version of Mavericks does have FaceTime, but my Snow Leopard didn't.
