    Clever idea. But only works when at home together, well maybe when somewhere else together.

    Go with Skype, perhaps not so convenient as just having to use the one app, but unless you get a mac/ipad or iphone, it's one of the easiest ways to go.

    Google Hangouts would be another reccomendation. Works on iOS, Android, Mac OSX and Windows.
    Not only can you video-chat, you can share photos and other stuff as well.
