  • The only thing I've come to learn is doing the right thing never pays!! Though my aviator is true! :(

OP do whatever is right for you and your boy x

You aren't refused a food bank IF sanctioned, other benefits and what can anyone do if you've no money

Personally sanctions are lottery, that you get to appeal wayhey ;) I certainly wouldn't take heat of once long term unemployed saying you've the wrong attitude it's each to their own - believe we've all played the system at some point, but, heck when you need help, you need help so don't regret posting x

I think you need to negotiate with your employer.

The worst thing in their view may be for you to quit suddenly when it's busy or near the end of project/contract.

They may be able to go to some lengths to alter your role, your hours or when the contract ends. I'd expect a good manager to try to help anyone facing family pressures.

Even if you say nothing can be done to keep you until end of contract, they may agree to terminate your contract instead of forcing you to quit. It's in their interest that you remain motivated while you're there- perhaps working hard during your notice, doing a proper handover or allowing them to choose exact date you quit.

But I don't know what would happen to your benefits if you quit because of family? Are you available for work if your family means you cant work? I'm not sure job centre would be understanding.
