Can you not negoiate something with work- both in terms of the job centre and a reference for future employers?

You've nothing to lose but a 13 week sanction by trying.
  • I would just stick at it if you temp contract runs out soon, then there will not be any sanction

Giving up any job will not look good on any decision maker as they look at it like you are trying to play the system/can't be bothered to work, so there opinion is why should they give you money if you can't be bothered

I totally understand the depression aspect, but surely your depression will only get worse without work, that is what would happen to me anyway, I could not even consider leaving my current job without having another one to go to

Keep at it & loo for other work, it's easier to find work when your in work, as already said it will not look good to any other employer if you just give up, its an attitude I would not even consider adopting

Please don't make thing hard for yourself, life is hard enough without making it harder by giving up a job

If the position is temporary and you don't expect them to take you on, then just do the minimum required. You don't need to impress them, so who cares if you don't do the extra bit. It's only a matter of weeks, surely you can stick it. Just give your son a lot of hugs, tell him that you are a bit stressed at the moment due to the job but that it won't last long, but that it is important that you stay to bring in money and ensure a better chance of a good job afterwards.

Are you off during the break?

Not necessarily true, being in a temporary role with only a few weeks left a lot of people will not have the motivation to work normally especially as they are likely to be shortly out of work again.

It's up to the DM who should act independently and each one of course to their own.

You should sign on even if just to get NI credits during a sanction. Personally I'd stick it out and work the minimum required. Don't do 1.5 persons work just do what you can. If they don't like it they will terminate your contract and you'll get JSA straight away.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Have you spoken to your employer to say you think they are expecting too much of you?

↑ this - plus maybe your employer will be able to end your contract early if they can't lighten the load. The benefits office contacts them to find out why you left and if they say the job went early that's the ned of it as far as the JS+ are conceerned usually.

That attitude is completely wrong though, even if its temp work, you still want to impress the employer, who may then give you a reference

I work had at everything I do, temp or not (hell I even worked my butt off when I did voluntary work), maybe my attitude to work is wrong then, but I don't think so

Some people need to look at the bigger picture, who is gonna want to employ someone who gives up when the going gets tough, I wouldn't if I was an employer

    Your perspective seems quite bizarre.

Do you think most DMs will be sympathetic to someone quitting their job because they can't be bothered continuing to work, as they've only got a few weeks left anyway?

    I don't think it's a chance I would take.

Who knows, but what's apparent on this thread is people giving thoughtless opinions of what sanctions she is likely to get when they are just guessing.

A DM is independent so they might give a 26 , 13, 8 , 4, 2 or 1 week sanction or no sanction at all. Someone seems to think they will be given a 13 week sanction which is incorrect as it will be decided by the DM when case is heard.
