I remember my Cheddar Cheese Slices apparently didn't count as "Cheddar Cheese":(. "Cheese" has to be a block I was told, leaving me to conclude that that's because Cheese Slices aren't cheese.0 -

I'm grateful for the Thorntons glitch and want to do a shop later but there's nothing else I want to buy that will compare well to Waities. I checked the Savvy buys in Waities and there's hardly anything, its just rubbishI might do AvS instead, even though the deals not so good I'll be able to find other things I want which will compare well, therefore not waste money on fillers I don't want/need
I agree. I think it's we've become too savvy as none of the regular offers of £1 prices are any good and even below that now seems quite expensive. Also having to bear losses on the Waities comparison as none of the fillers compare:p. There's the kitchen towel... but even that isn't as good as what it used to be. I didn't like any of my fillers being N/A but had to live with it - it pushes up the cost of the chocolates by over 23p each:eek:.
I don't know what they're on about inflation going down. I think it's the opposite - certainly much more expensive every year the chocolates and smaller and smaller boxes each year:(. I think the ONS inflation price collectors must be looking at regular prices - which have indeed come down, to rip-off everyday levels as opposed to even more rip-off full prices, but we need the half prices and better that have now been replaced by more expensive everyday pricing, the rarer (but still fairly common) half price offers which are the only time that we buy and stock up massively (buying at the competitors at full price and comparing versus the half price offer) - so that's the price we pay - whereas the ONS figures are reflecting usual prices, which average out, and are higher. The higher prices have gone down a bit - to too dear regular everyday pricing that isn't as good as loss leader rare special offer (our price, the only time we buy) and hence "inflation" for the normals falling, but the lower priced offers not as available nowadays, so the cost for us actually increasing.
It depends what items are in the inflation basket. I think prices are still increasing, just at a lower rate. They don't take into account mbuy offers, just individual prices, and certainly don't look at price promise refunds or the like as far as I know. So it doesn't reflect what normal people (using mbuys), or us, pay. It's like a "10% cheaper" normal person's basket where they've paid over the odds on everything.0
