my personal thinking is what price do you put on your safety,
So because they are a premium brand they must be better?
In that case you should be buying Michelin Energy Saver the score higher in rolling resistance, wet braking and noise and must therefore be safer and worth the extra!0 -
As mentioned above the tyre reviews site is good.
As we've one car which can be temperamental to tyres I found that site helpful as you can hear from people with the same vehicle as yours and what their experience of the tyre is.0 -
premium contact 5's would probably be a safe bet.0

Having spoken to a few tyre fitters, most punters just want the cheapest tyre. Doesn't make it right though. I used to buy premium Bridgestones but thought I was just throwing money away so switched to a mid range brand - Kumho. I suspect the difference is only really apparant when on the limit and most people don't drive to their cars absolute limits.0

I've just fitted Nexen n8000 all round, budget tyres, good grip etc.
Having read a few reviews,i suspect most reviewers think they are Ayrton Senna.0 -

they might not always be better and you may find a mid price tyre that outperforms the premium tyre on some tests
I always look at reviews of a tyre i am interested in buying and dont just say because it is the most expensive it must be the best
if i spent all my time at 30mph around town and did very little else then i may have a different philosophy when it comes to tyres, most of my driving is on rural roads where national speed limit applies so within 500 mts of home you are up to 50 mph plus, I just like to have tyres that i have some confidence in
I personally do not like budget tyres, they might be perfectly safe and adequate for a large number of drivers but i do not feel they are right for me0
