What the hell is going on? Talk Talk

I have been a Talk Talk customer since February, I paid a line rental upfront and since then pay £3.50 a month. This morning I saw that £41 had been taken from my bank account (a completely different one to the one I use to pay my monthly TT bill).
I have since spent a significant part of the day trying to find out what has happened, I've been on hold for 25 minutes then hung up on, and when I finally spoke to an advisor they kept saying "So you want to change your bank details?" before 'accidentally' disconnecting me.
I am entirely flummoxed as to what has happened here, and why it's proving so difficult for them to help, I have provided them with the reference number that accompanied the direct debit and they just keep telling me I don't have the right number.
Any help at all would be deeply appreciated.

Try the TT forum sometimes you can get better help .
The reason TT is cheap is not in dispute .0 -

If it isn't a genuine bill and should not have been deducted from that account then you should instruct your bank to recredit you as there is no authority for the direct debit to have been actioned in the first place.0

What Neil49 says -reclaim the DD from the bank. Sounds like a crossover -you are paying someone else's bill because there is no way that TalkTalk could have the details UNLESS you used to pay TalkTalk from that account years ago??0
