What exactly is producing the message "Please connect phone line to modem"?
    Is it from Windows?

Doesnt help when the useless little pamphlet you get with it says "You'll be networked in minutes"
I came across my router box the other day and it said something like "connect in 5 or 6 clicks"!! It took me loads of clicks, hours and hours and I couldn't have done it without help from this site! ;)

Your problem sounds very much like the one I had but with a different router which was partly to do with configuring it.
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........

Sounds to me like you've still got your old dial-up modem set as the default connection in Network Connections on the PC.

Go into Network Connections via the Control Panel, delete the Dial-up connection and set Local Area Network as the default. Then go into Internet Options, Connection and set 'Never Dial' and then in LAN settings set to auto detect.
