How insurers and their chosen garage treats us

Given the mechanism by which your car got damaged with debris rattling underneath the car, it seems plausible to suggest the fuel pipes took a battering and could have dislodged or ruptured something.
You need to ask your insurers if their decision not to remedy this problem is their final stance. If they say yes then tell them you will be seeking an independent engineer's report and will be seeking the cost of the report from them in the event it concludes this problem is accident related, plus of course them to pay for the problem to be fixed as part of the claim.
I would say going down the complaint route may just take you back to this current position in a couple of months time.
As for engineers, I can recommend this firm http://www.hartecuk.co.uk/ ask for Richard Cross or Adrian Hart.0 -
Thanks for that Onan!
After I insisted and asked them to explain on what evidence do they base their opinion, suddenly my vehicle was returned this evening. Neither my presence nor any signature was necessary! Just dropped it back and took courtesy car away...
It is rainy and dark so no idea in what state my vehicle is...
Proof of their statement or engineer's report rests undisclosed!
How is that for customer care??
I will get independent engineer's report than I guess next best thing is Financial Ombudsman service...0 -
Of cost up what it is to put it right and go for a small claim with your independent report under your arm.Je suis sabot...0
-
Independent engineer's report around 300-400+VAT.
I have no idea what is really wrong with suspension and where that leak came from. Putting it to garage to inspect the leak and contacting Hyundai again to see if they want to put the steering right.
As the claim handler and the garage refuse to disclose what they have done with the vehicle I guess I will get done what have to be done than either small claims court or let that pleasure to be handled by ombudsman service.
These people think I will take no action...
Naturally I will return time to time to this site to update you guys and read if you had anything additional comment.

To to be fair, from your words it sounds like you either a) know a bit about cars and don't put it across clearly OR b) think you do.
From your tone it sounds like you've been climbing right up their a** from the start.
If i'm wrong, then I apologise, but something has gone very wrong here and it looks like you and the garage have started out on the wrong foot.
The course of action would have been to let them do their thing with minimal fuss and then pull out the guns if/when they messed it up.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I think I would have hidden my car and reported the loan car stolen if a garage did that!0

Well your assumptions are right in all cases.
I might be short on wordings about my knowledge on vehicle repairs.
Don't know where I was short on words though...
Also might be just someone who think, yeah I know about cars.
There is always someone who knows better...
You are right on that I should have let them to do the job and pull the guns out...
Well in a way I did. Told them what happened and what faults I found.
No need to be a tech savvy to feel a steering pulling to N/S or to detect a lake of fuel leak...
Vehicle came back with reoccurring faults. They did nothing else than spray painting half of the bumper :rotfl:
Anyway vehicle current status is being put into an independent garage after few days of test drive and a horrible fuel leak causing breakdown.
Let the "real" professionals decide what is really wrong.
One thing is sure;since I changed the insurance cover back to my old SORN vehicle and taxed it I am getting nervous phone calls from my insurer asking how things are...and I am not saying a word!0 -
talk to the insurance company dont go quiet... and in the daytime go out with a camera and take pics of any damage or poor repairs, and whatever u do dont let the inspecting garage do any work..and make it a proper garage not kwik fit or halfrauds or anything like that..0

Hello again,
It has been quite long time since writing about this case and all I can say that it is worth fighting. Case still not over as it is with the financial ombudsman now.
Garage was caught on lying fuel leak wise. See what happens...
Anyway many many thanks goes out to you all, dear unknown helping people!0 -
Well you won't find an uplift pump bolted to the engine and the high pressure pump in the tank for starters. More likely the other way round, even more likely them both on the engine as one unit.0
