Newbie - PPC "Fine"

So I'm new here - Very recently had a "Parking Charge Notice" from UK CPS Ltd...For parking in a residential area "without a valid permit or authority" and "out of a marked bay" however there were no marked bays or double yellows. There was only 10 minutes before seeing my vehicle and the ticket being issued. I have read a lot of the other threads and the newbie one so not so much looking for advice just thought I would share my case and if anything crops up I'd be able to hopefully seek some advice.

So far I have done nothing and shall wait for my NTK to arrive before doing anything.

They are BPA and IPC registered if this effects anything.

I think I am doing everything right so far...if you'd like to give me any pointer then that would be great :) especially if anyone has beaten this company.

I have always parked in this area (mainly because I used to date someone who lived there) this has been my first "ticket"

I have kept the "ticket"

Yes, wait for the NTK and in the meantime can you show us a photo of the signage? Wording and position, are there any signs at all by the entrance? Are any obscured? Also show us whether there are ANY bays there at all?!

They are BPA 'members' but choose the IPC for their ATA which means the only 2nd stage appeal is to the alleged kangaroo court of IAS. May not be worth the 2nd stage appeal - after UKCPS reject the first appeal later on, you may be better ignoring it after that except if they try a small claim (defending a small claim has been found to be fairer and easier to win than silly old IAS appeals). And we've beaten UKCPS in court before, mon signage issues. So get those photos.

AS A NEWBIE YOU MUST POST A BROKEN LINK ONLY SO PUT A GAP IN THE URL AND REMOVE THE HTTP.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for your reply. I shall take photo's of signage on my next day off...I know there are some but never paid attention to them so can't even think if they are at the entrance or what they say. I will get a photo of the spot I parked at...there are bays but only for some residence, the rest is street parking.

Ahh okay I get that, well I will get the photos ASAP then.

Thank you for the help...£100 they must be having a laugh!

Hi guys sorry for the much delayed reply...so I have just received my NTK on this they proceed to state "Appeals - at the time that the charge was incurred, a Notice to the Driver was affixed to the vehicle. This offered the driver ability to appeal within 21 days from it's imposition. This opportunity has now lapsed and we regret the ability to appeal against the charge is no longer available...." however it then states - in small print - "This is a parking charge and not a penalty or fine. Payment of this charge may be pursued by the operator through legal means, including the courts, which may result in you incurring additional costs. You can appeal against this charge by writing to the car-park operator. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can make a further appeal to the IAS. Details are given elsewhere on the notice. The car-park operator has agreed to keep to a code of practice, which states that the parking charge issued cannot be unreasonable or used as a penalty..."

I do have photos of where I parked which I'd like to post but can't figure out how??...they clearly show how badly signed the area is and how badly the "bays" are outlined...again any help with this would be massively appreciated.

If you ignored the NtD and now have the NtK, they are LYING if they say the keeper can't appeal.

Upload the photo's to tinypic or photobucket then post the URL on here but change http to hxxt and one of us will convert it so the link works.

What would people advise to do now? Should I make appeal to IAS or UK CPS? Or ignore and wait for possible court summons?
