Does my water bill seem correct?

Roughly, this is my daily usage of water.

One 2,27 litre bottle filled with water per day, one pan filled full of water per day, 5 litres of water extra used from leaking tap when showering in total over the week, two eight minute showers taken a week, four basins full of water washing my hair a week, toilet flushed three times a day maximum, water used for central heating around forty minutes a day. That works out around £4-.4.50-£5 a week.

Charges vary hugely across the UK. Charges in the South West can be three times as much as other parts.


You can check your consumption of water by reading the meter, why try and guess?

Thanks for the reply.

I can't read the meter, as I've tried prying the thing open and it isn't having it. Yorkshire Water read it for me every so often, next time is January. It just seems a bit high for my consumption.

if I understand it correctly, they only read full cubic meters, so if your reading is 105.9 and your next reading is 107.1, they will think you have used 107-105= 2000litres, when in fact you would have only used 1200litres.

It will balance itself out over the long term, but checking your bill on a monthly basis will give some odd readings.

Don't you use a washing machine, or wash vegetables etc?
