Have I screwed up transfer?

Wondering whether I'll have screwed up my transfer away from Sky by doing things in this order:

- Signed up to xfer to BT via Topcashback
- hadn't tracked within a few days so decided to cancel BT order but did nothing about it
- decided to go to EE instead
- noticed cashback offer ended at midnight, signed up for EE
- cancelled BT order the next day (today)

Can I expect the Sky -> EE xfer to go through ok?

Incidentally, the cashback rate advertised for EE was £105, but it's only tracked at £52.50....

Did you get a MAC from Sky and provide it to EE?

Neither BT nor EE have asked for one (I believe because Sky is LLU and BT and EE are not?), so no. I did get a letter from Sky before placing my EE order or cancelling BT order, telling me they'd heard I was leaving.

I which case make sure you cancel Sky as soon as the transfer goes through to who ever.
Watch out for any BT levied cancellation charge that should be picked up by your new ISP.

  • I would call sky and check what's there. The cease letter you received from sky would have been generated automatically when the BT order went in.

if there is a cease on the line already then a line take over can't happen so the EE order would probably be for a new number and line? As, when you placed it, there was already an order in place with BT. Have you received another cease letter from sky since, dated on or just after you put in the order with EE?

As you have now cancelled the BT order, then the cease will be removed from the line with the sky services so they will just continue as was without cancelling.

If you aren't bothered about the number then just call sky to cancel, its 14 days minimum notice they need for phone and broadband, not 30.

If you want to keep your number you will have to cancel the order with EE and then reorder using your existing number.

EE have written to me (as The Occupier) saying "We recently received a request to replace the phone line at this address with our phone service...". Doesn't that mean they're treating it as a line takeover?

In any case I'll probably cancel my EE order, as the cashback has tracked at half the advertised £100 rate.
