unlocking an orange spv c550???
Does anyone know if this is possible??
i have an orange spv c550 phone that i have spent yesterday and all of today trying to unlock to all networks by downloading various programs and registering with many sites and nothing seems to be working. for some reason, the things dont seem to be downloading to my phone very well. so i would be eternally grateful if someone could find out the sim unlock code for me.
Phone: Orange SPV C550
Current network: Obviously orange
IMEI: 356134000441102
United Kingdom
I dont know if this matters, im completely new to all of this, but the orange sim that is in it has not worked for months now.
Also, if someone manages to find me a code and posts it here, what do i do with it then??? Where do i enter it?
If anyone knows any of the answers to these, i wont be able to thank you enough.
Cheers guys.

Ok..
There are a couple of different types of unlock for these HTC smartphones.
You can SIM unlock => this means you can put the sim card of any manufacturer (O2 TMobile Voda Orange - not 'three' though).
You can also 'Application Unlock' the phone. When the phones are sold, they are often application locked to prevent software being installed that is not authorised by the manufacturer / network. To application unlock, you need to use a registry editor program and change a couple of values. It sounds worrying, but it is actually simple if you follow the instructions.
Here are a couple of links for you.

http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/HTC_Smartphone_SIM_Unlock_Guide
Please note that if your PC has windows Vista on it, the sim unlock program my not run.. try to do it on a friends XP pc if possible.
You should then be able to use any networks sim card and install any software.
Good luck with your phone.
Let me know if you need any software for it.

Cheers, thats kinda cleared up how it all works. The only problem is when i try to unlock the applications thing using that link above, it says i need to copy things into certain folders on my phone.
Im guessing this requires the use of Active Sync or some similar program. But unfortunately i dont have anything like that.
If theres another way of doing this application unlock, itd be great if you could let me know of it.0 -
you can app unlock over the air

If you need active sync it comes on the SPV cd rom or you can download from here

Thanks alanclose, this information has proved to be the most successful so far. Ive got the active sync working. Found the file to app unlock over the air, managed to get the file into the correct folder on my phone, but when i tried opening it, it said that this .cab file couldnt be opened on my device.
Any help? i reckon that if i can work out how to get this to open properly, the sim unlock shouldnt be too hard to manage.

I didn't think the over the air unlock required installation of any files
you just need a functioning orange sim and your IMEI number and then you just type them into the link I posted.
If you are using the method that Chris posted download this file http://www.spv-developers.com/content/HTCUnlock-CVS.zip unzip it and run it from your PC whilst the phone is connected via active sync
Then run this file http://www.spv-developers.com/content/SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip from your pc again while you are connected to activesync.
Restart your phone and then try loading an unsigned app to see if it worked0 -
Ah! That may have been the problem... no functioning orange sim.
However, somehow i managed to access the correct files and change the values.
That file you just gave me confirmed that app unlock had been successful.
Thats half way there.
Thanks for all the help so far but i may be back for the sim unlock bit soon.
Much appreciated.0 -
Okay, i am sooo close to managing it now. Ive installed the cert.cab file onto my phone. tried running the SPVservices.exe from the same file on my PC and found the sim toggle tool, entered AGREE and tried clicking on the login button and then my computer says that an error occured and the program had to close.
Is there something i can change on my PC to prevent this from happening?
Or even another way to use the SPVservices.exe file?
Thanks once again0 -
you have run the cert file from your phone and installed it?
Create a folder C:\spv and unzip the files to there and then run SPVservices again
Also do you have a firewall, I ran the file and my firewall asked if it was ok to run it0 -

yep, cert file installed and run
we have a firewall but im getting past that by allowing access
i also tried creating a new SPV folder in the C drive and copied just the SPVservices MFC Application file to it and tried it, no error message came up but it also said the it had failed. then i remembered somewhere it said that the typhoonNDF Tools.dll file needs to be in the same folder so then i copied that to the new folder and tried again and then the error message re-appeared.
i dont know if that means anything to anyone but i could do with some help again.
thanks guys.0
