Good start to my Plusnet

I've switched today from BT fibre to Plusnet fibre. All it took was a quick phone call to change my settings. I can still use the BT router even though I was sent one from Plusnet.

I'm happy so far! Just thought I'd share the experience and the fact I'm saving money.

Supposedly so (Plusnet are a Sister company of BT), have mosey on over to the Plusnet forums, they'll tell you what to do.

OP, using the BT router, am I correct that you don't also need the seperate modem as I currently have with Plusnet?

Looking for a one-box solution as it is tidier so may buy a used BT homehub, unless anyone has a better suggestion?

    Cheers

All fiber broadband supplied by the Openreach network need a modem & router.

Not correct. Sky's Hub 2 has the fibre modem and router combined in the same unit so just one box.

Buy a BT Home Hub 5, has a built in modem. We have just switched to fibre with PlusNet works fine.
  • Just a word of warning about Plusnet. I upgraded from broadband to fibre with Plusnet. Part of the deal was free p@p charges for new modem.

BT engineer arrived and I rang Plusnet."" You have not paid for p@p for your modem so we didn't send one"

Nobody at Plusnet bothered to check that fibre was organised without a modem.

I had to pay £5.99 BEFORE they would order a modem.

Luckily I had saved the chat I had when signing up and in black and white it stated they would waive p@p charges.

I complained and they say the will refund.....I will wait and see

    Hi hardtimes,

If we've said we'll provide free P&P then that's exactly what we should do.

I'd be happy to check that the refund has been issued if you can provide me a way of identifying your account.

If you'd like me to take a look at what's going on please let me know a ticket number from your account. You should be able to find one of these in an email from us or by logging into http://contactus.plus.net

After putting my ticket on this site I received a call from Plusnet to tell me my card had been refunded.

It's a pity I had all the hassle in the first place. Lesson is ALWAYS take a copy of online chat
