Vodafone appalling customer service - voicemail locked

A friend of mine forgot his voicemail PIN whilst overseas. He is a business customer and needs access urgently. For some reason, neither 191 nor the full mobile 191 number will work from his phone, so I use my O2 phone.

I get through, explain the issue and then get transferred to the correct department... before I am cut off.

Then the same thing happens again.

So I try a third time and get through after the transfer. Hooray. I am then told that the business team just went home so the voicemail cannot be unlocked. Frustrated at the failed attempts, the wasted time and cost and the locked voicemail, I ask how we sort this out. I am told to dial 1210 which will deactivate and then 1211 to reactivate. I ask if this will delete the messages and the assistant does not know. He finds out that the answer is yes. Unhelpful!

So then I ask if he can get a message to the business team to sort this out when they get in in the morning. He says no. There us no way for Vodafone consumer to communicate with Vodafone business. Huh? Seriously? This sounds insane, but he is adamant he cannot call them, email them or message them so all. Amazed.

So I ask to speak to a manager to check this and he says they are busy. So I ask for a manager to call me back when they are free. He ignores my request and tells me to call back in the morning. I ask again and he continues to be obnoxious and ignore me. Then he puts the phone down. Huh?

So frustrated at this customer service - is this standard for Vodafone?

Comments

  • Easy. Yes.
  • You can get the pin reset easily - they will text the new random pin to you.
If you're unlucky, the overseas agent will reset the whole inbox and that will delete all messages - they did that to me.
But I have on 2 other occasions had just the pin reset and the inbox remained.
Be very specific to them you dont want the whole voicemail reset !!
