Why would you have to activate it to get your £125???0

it doesn't have a .txt extension, or any extension, it's just hosts, in a specific directory
if you start editing, you'll end up with a hosts.txt, or an edited file in the wrong place, either of which won't change a thing, the original hosts file will still be there doing it's thing
close browser, rename the one dated 20/8 to ghosts, collect your bank dividend, rename it back, advance to Pall Mall.
if it doesn't work, run ccleaner with the dns cache box ticked, or rebootDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
You may find that you need to take ownership of the hosts file and add your own username with permission to write to it before you can edit it ..
Otherwise, when you come to save, it will make you save it using another name

And if you are editing a .txt file then you will NEVER make any difference. The file which Windows uses is called HOSTS ... that's it, just HOSTS ... no file extension like .txt or anything, just HOSTS.0

No - the hosts file isn't a .txt file; it has no extension. Also, it's often a read-only file, so you may need to turn off the read-only flag to be able to rename or edit the file.0 -
