Thanks for all the replies. Just had a look at Honest John for mileage figs  - somehow I must have been looking at the diesel I think! Also, should have said we'll need an automatic so that will lower the mileage. We need one with good clearance as some roads we're going on are quite bumpy - not 4WD territory but there are things sticking up.

I had a Captur as a courtesy car a few months back and found it very uneconomical. No automatic. Looks nice though!

The Fiat 500L I hadn't considered - didn't realise it was quite so big (or maybe that the Juke is quite so small :D). I've had a few Fiat's and they've been great but just checked and no automatic :(

Rav4 is nice but 2l only giving 26mpg .

Mokka looks a possibility - and diesel + 50 to gallon on automatic :T.

ix20 doesn't look very high off ground.

The Suzuki looks good and good mpg also :T.

So, SX4 and Mokka to explore further so far :).

Dualogic is an option isnt it?

The captur is more economical (in diesel) than anything similar.
It says 70mpg, im getting closer to 60mpg (59.9mpg) - its been increasing from 59mpg upwards since I got it. I have been told it takes around 3000 miles to pick up - mine hasnt done 1000 yet - although that is manual not automatic.

The Renault Captur comes in a very economical 1.5l diesel automatic, I've seen some on auto trader, its also road tax exempt

Just looked it up - 'dual clutch' did not sound like an automatic to me :o. Neither did 'dual logic'. Why can't manfacturers just say whether it's petrol/diesel, manual/automatic and whether 0-60 is measured in seconds or 'eventually, on a good day with a following wind and going downhill'.

    List getting longer :T.

Lol I know. It did confuse me at first. I'm considering getting one myself, the automatic diesel version, looks very nice

It's the same 1.5 under the Juke's bonnet isn't it..?

~29 mpg from the Audi is probably a steady motorway drive. ~29 mpg from the Nissan is most likely short urban commutes

    It was mixed driving - 50/50 town/motorway.

It was a great car - just an SE Quattro, so looked really plain in dark blue. Always used to have fun at traffic lights next to bloke in BMW 530d' Sport's

I didn't even know they did it in a diesel, I haven't looked at the Juke in detail, its not my cup of tea, bit ugly IMO :o

If you can stretch your budget the BMW X3 or Audi Q3 are excellent cars to consider

I don't think I could buy a BMW or an Audi as a matter of principle, it's the anti-snob in me :rotfl:.

It is a bit :D. The Captur is very attractive - but very flimsy - I had a kamikaze pheasant fly into the one I had and the trim round the wheel arch came undone and banged all the way home till I could pop it back in place

  • We've had a 2l petrol auto Rav 4 at 37mpg, and a 2.2l diesel auto Rav 4 at 32mpg. Petrol auto still has the awful multidrive-s transmission so best avoided.

My favorite though is the toyota verso - loads of storage and room inside, high driving position, option for 7 seats, good satnav. I'm doing 38mpg at the moment with the 1.8l petrol auto, and not driving slow! Great family car with one of the highest safety awards.
