Thanks for that. It appears, that the number is recognised, because with voicemail, the pbx says extension number 00xxxx is on the phone. Please leave a message

With voice mail turned off, it doesnt go through

Cant see why it shouldnt work? I mean it's not being used??

EDIT: I see. It's not got inbound trunk settings for that number, but then when I went in to edit stuff in there, to what I thought might be it, it still didnt work??

I don't know, for me it just worked first time.

I do use a registration timer of 119 seconds on my IP phone to make sure NAT tables in the router are kept refreshed - but if you have been working OK with incoming calls from other services then this should not be the issue.

Very puzzled now - I haven't had the email from Sipgate and they haven't replied to my email enquiry *but* they are now taking registrations again!

I think I'll probably move the BT number I ported in a few years ago away anyway to avoid any problems in the future. TBH I'm hardly a good customer since I moved most of my outgoing calls elsewhere earlier this year.
  • No email yet. Turned down a virgin landline for £5 a month, perhaps I should have said yes...

AH thanks any way. Interestingly enough, I've fiddled with it a bit. I've got both my extensions atm.

If I default to my 01xxxx number, in the pbx settings, and ring the 03xxx number, the PBX is happy with that

If/when the number stops working (I didnt get an email), then it's either the free 03 number, or a number from DIDLogic for $0.99/month which isnt amazingly bad (That one worked)

Lol. IF Sipgate, are going to stop services, they've just gone and lost some income from myself (Though tbf, I only ever called 0844 numbers via Sipgate)

Interestingly enough for new numbers, you get an 0845 number, which is OK I guess for some rates that Sipgate gives (Cos you can still get an 01/02 number cheaply, and an 03 number for free if it works)

I dunno. The very max, you'd have to pay from now on is surely just $0.99/month via DIDLogic. OR the free 03 number

I'll eventually update the guide I did (Thanks to Graham and Redflux) to accommodate new changes

    For me

087 numbers now all go via Localphone

And DIDLogic, has also lost some business, because

    03
    05 and
    07

    Now go via Localphone

So in a way, it's KINDA good? If push comes to shove, and Sipgate withdraws every thing, then I'll just move the majority of services to Localphone tbh..

    Here's my new little spreadsheet:

    111m0kw.jpg

If push comes to shove, then all of those Sipgate numbers will just be pushed to Localphone ie:

    No emergency calling
Free to 0500,0800 and 0808 numbers
    9.84p to call 084 numbers :(

An increase in price of 196.8% for 0844 numbers and 328% for 0845 numbers :(

^ Actually for 0845 numbers, I guess there still is 18185, but there's a 3p connection charge. Still cheaper than localphone

Though at the same time, every other number, I've managed to make cheaper than what it was so.. swings and roundabouts I guess

Actually I might just push the free numbers via Localphone cos theyre a bigger company (I think) and SHOULD be able to cope a bit better, so a very, very, very small load of Sipgate I guess...

I do not know what is going on with Sipgate BUT........they seem to be taking registrations again on the website for the Basic service !!!!!

The web pages for this all seem to be live and you can select the location and free number.

I have not gone any further than that as I do not need another number !

No idea either but if something does happen then I'll just use a free number if I can get it to work or a number from DIDLogic

Certainly more of my calls are now being routed via local phone instead now..

Another option for inbound calls is Voipfone.co.uk. It's only an 056 number, but no monthly fee and unlike some others they don't take the number away if you leave it unused for a long time. And for those with international friends and family Callcentric are worth a look with their fee free NY state numbers.

Oooh that's decent. I was going to suggest Flextel, but they withdraw the number after a year of inactivity

(Flextel charge £1-£10 (Around a fiver normally for their cheapest numbers), but it's a one off charge)

Voiphone dont appear to have any 056 numbers?

There are plenty listed as available after you log-in and http://www.voipfone.co.uk/EP_UK_Telephone_Numbers.php says "We give you one for free with every account."

Ah thanks. I dont have a Voiphone account, so thanks again :)

I do like their costs for 0870 numbers! 1.8p/min!!!

If push comes to shove, might be worth making an account with them, and pushing 0845 numbers via them as well, because they charge 4.8p/min
