Can I sue sky over self exclusion process.

I self excluded my Skybet account last year and I was able to open it again this year. As the self exclusion was only for 1 year but when I went to open it sky didn't follow any responsible gambling regulations they didn't ask if I was happy about my gambling levels and also didn't ask if I wanted a deposit limit.

The agent told me because the chat disconnected they did not follow on the procedure but I told them you gave me a 24 hour cooling off period in order to contact me which they didnt.

After I complained about this they suspended my account and I kept chat logs with the agent which showed that the agent said if we didn't go through the process we would suspend your account until we did confirm these. But my account was opened for more than a week and I lost some money and then I contacted them about the responsible gambling where they suspended my account.

As I took the claim to Agcc they now said I can't have an account or have my account reopened due to responsible gambling issues. But If they had these concern they should of closed my account when they didn't confirm the responsible gambling steps they promote on their website. I've spoken to other bookies and gamcare who said that I should of been put through this process but wasn't . Do you think I have a good chance of sueing?. It not about the lost money as I layed and made profit but they promote being a responsible gambling bookies when they are not. Sorry about spelling and words on phone.

Even with a loss you can't sue a bookmakers for allowing you to place a bet a year after you self excluded.

The default is 6 months and as the bet was placed after this time there is no liability to sky bet.

Of course by definition any legal action will be a gamble and you may get lucky. I suspect the OP will like to give it a go!

I suffered losses because they didn't provide me with a deposit limit and I kept depositing. This is in the gambling commission act that a gambling website regulated by them should take responsible gambling obligation seriously. What if you open an account and they didn't take you through the process?.

You can sue anyone if you have deep pockets.

Publicity through a newspaper is the best bet.

Personally though I wouldn't like people to know that I had a serious gambling issue. It's not good for your career prospects if that's on you record

It shows a weakness in character.

Wouldn't it be best to ask them then?
